Release of General Insurance Claim Insights Handbook

With the intention of providing increased clarity to policyholders on the claims settlement behaviour of general insurers, IBAI had launched the first volume of its General Insurance Claim Insights Handbook in March 2017 during its Annual Brokers’ Summit. This handbook was well-received and appreciated by the IRDAI and policyholders. This initiative is one of the first of its kind to provide a detailed analysis from a claims perspective to policyholders. Insurance brokers being the only distribution channel representing policyholders are uniquely positioned to undertake this initiative. Furthermore, the handbook is also the first such initiative to rank all non-life insurance companies across various lines of business.

We have continued our efforts towards representing policyholders’ interests and further detailed our analysis through the second volume of the handbook. As Brokers work for the Policyholder interest, there has been a demand from various policy holders across country to have simple and updated data on performance on claims promise by each insurance company. The handbook draws data from public disclosure for the quarter ending September 30, 2016.
